Introducing our new Paralegal Apprentice Scheme!
We are proud to introduce our new ‘Paralegal Apprentice Scheme’. This is an entry-level scheme aimed at those who have a keen interest in developing a real and fulfilling career in a legal environment.
We hope that the FAQ’s below will answer your questions, but if not please do not hesitate to contact Charlotte England, HR Advisor on DD 01905 612 001, or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
What’s the opportunity?
You can join our successful professional team and have the opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’ – working as a Paralegal Apprentice alongside our experienced fee earners, resulting in a fulfilling long-term career and the benefit of a first-rate qualification under your belt.
What is a Paralegal?
Paralegals are not lawyers. They perform routine tasks and require some knowledge of the law and legal procedures. They support solicitors and are involved in a variety of tasks ranging from drafting legal documents to preparing bundles of documents and attending client meetings.
Is this the career for me?
Yes! If you aspire to working in a supportive and dynamic environment and, ultimately, becoming a professional Paralegal with a widely recognised qualification – but not in becoming a solicitor. However, if you turn out to be a ‘star’ we would be supportive of further career development.
Do I need a degree?
Absolutely not, although the minimum educational requirement is four G.C.S.E.’s which must include English, plus at least two other academic subjects – all G.C.S.E.’s must be at grade C or above.
How does the Paralegal Apprentice Scheme work?
You will need to complete a probationary period. Then if everyone is happy, alongside your job you will enrol on the CILEX Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice – attending college (e.g. Worcester College of Technology) on a part-time basis for 2 years, or possibly via distance learning which takes 15 to 18 months. This course starts every September. Your training will be paid for by Harrison Clark Rickerbys (subject to certain terms and conditions).
What will I earn?
National Minimum Wage rate during your training, and the appropriate market rate once you have successfully completed your CILEX course.
How do I apply?
We accept applications year-round. Your application will be held on file until we need an apprentice, when all applications will be reviewed and successful candidates will be invited in for interview. We will also advertise specific Paralegal Apprentice vacancies as they occur on our website (if you have already applied for the scheme you do not need to re-apply). We may recruit apprentices for any of our offices, so if you are applying speculatively rather than in response to a specific vacancy on our website, your covering letter must state which office(s) you are interested in working in.
Interested? Please send a copy of your C.V. together with a brief letter explaining the reasons why you want to start a career in law and why you are the right person for us to Charlotte England, HR Advisor, either via email, or in writing to Harrison Clark Rickerbys, 5 Deansway, Worcester WR1 2JG. Please note that if you are invited to interview you will be required to produce evidence of your G.C.S.E. results.
