Cheltenham Hospital Oncology Centre garden in full bloom after revamp from solicitors

2nd June 2023

Members of our Cheltenham office took part this week in an initiative which saw the Cheltenham Hospital Oncology Centre garden revamped with a combined 90 hours of manpower!

On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, the 28-strong team potted, planted and pulled weeds, as well as cleaning furniture, sweeping paths of leaves and even a bit of painting. The garden, which had started to become neglected, has been given a new lease of life.

Alongside this, there will be two volunteers from the team visiting the garden every fortnight to keep it tidy and well-maintained.

The revamp of the garden will allow patients at the hospital and those visiting them to enjoy the outside space, which is now blossoming following the work of the team.

Lauren McGurk, Senior Associate in the Private Client team, who led on the initiative, said:

“It has been an absolute privilege to coordinate the Cheltenham Hospital Oncology Centre garden revamp. I am delighted that so many colleagues volunteered to help with this project; we had 28 volunteers on the initial launch date, and we have mini-teams ready to go to attend the garden every fortnight until the end of the year, to continue the hard work.

“This project is so close to my heart as I know first-hand, as a former oncology patient at the hospital, the value of having this open space.

“After noticing the garden had become extremely tired looking over the last year or so, it felt so rewarding to see the garden beginning to take shape with the assistance and generosity of my colleagues on Wednesday.”
