How to protect your family and your assets – webinar looks at key questions

3rd June 2020

Addressing vital questions which have been made even more poignant by the Covid-19 pandemic, David King, Head of Private Client for the Wye Valley, led a webinar recently to consider how to protect your loved ones and your wealth for the future.

With John Solosy (Chartered Financial Planner, Solosy Wealth Management) Emma Saysell, (CEO, St David’s Hospice Care) and HCR colleague Annabel Kay, (Senior Associate, Wills, Trusts and Estates) the panel were able to help clients considering trusts, investments, Lasting Powers of Attorney and advance directives as well as end of life planning, how to protect vulnerable beneficiaries and the difficulties of making a will when someone is gravely ill.

David said afterwards: “We wanted to offer some help to those who are thinking about their finances, who will look after their children when they die, or the decisions they may have to make on behalf of an ill or vulnerable loved one”.

“We covered a wide range of topics and some interesting points were raised – it was invaluable to have John, Annabel and Emma’s input because they all bring specialist expertise and a good deal of practical experience into the mix”.

“The webinar was very well received, with individuals and fellow practitioners telling me that it was very informative. For me, it is all about stressing the importance of planning and in my role, asking the question: “What if”? I have had a number of clients following the webinar follow up with me to discuss their existing arrangements, checking to make sure that their wills are still relevant to their personal and financial circumstances.”
