Herefordshire Charitable Art Competition 2018: Official Launch

The official launch of the Herefordshire Charitable Art Competition 2018;

Artists of all ages are being invited to express their passion for Herefordshire in a competition to raise money for their chosen charities.

The Herefordshire Charitable Art Competition, organised by Hereford law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys inc Gordon Lutton, will include an exhibition of the artists’ work at All Saints Church, Hereford, and the winners across four categories will each receive £250 to be donated to their chosen local charity – their work will then be displayed in the firm’s conference rooms.

Entries in two age groups (8-14 years, and 15 years and above) can be paintings, drawings, photographs or mixed media works on the theme ‘Herefordshire is my passion’. Each entry should focus on one of the four categories:

  • City
  • Portrait
  • Landscape
  • Leisure

There will also be a wildcard category for outstanding entries across the competition.

Each entry must be accompanied by an entry form which is available here or from the firm’s Hereford office – the form should include contact details for the entrant and information about the artwork. Entrants need to complete the sentence “Herefordshire is my passion because …”

Matt Hayes, head of the firm’s Hereford office, said: “I am very excited to see how this initiative will promote local talent, highlight real passion for our amazing county and support causes close to the hearts of the entrants.”

The entries will be judged by a panel comprising local artists and the firm’s partners. The judges will consider how the artwork reflects the character of the county, together with how the artist has expressed their own passion for the county in their work. The competition is kindly sponsored by a range of artistic and charitable organisations based in Herefordshire and the surrounding areas, including the Harrison Clark Rickerbys Charitable TrustBrightwells, the Institute of Art & LawGallery 54, and RRA Architects.

Artists will have until the closing date of Friday 19 October to submit their entries at the firm’s office at Thorpe House, 29 Broad St, Hereford.
