We are delighted that 2 guest speakers will join our legal experts. Simon Dingle, a former Carillion Operations Director, will talk of his experience of Carillion’s liquidation.
Our other guest speaker is Peter Yates, a registered architect who is a member of the Government’s Grenfell Industry Response Group who will discuss the sector’s response to the Grenfell disaster.
A buffet lunch will be served at the end of the morning to allow for networking and further discussion.

Simon Dingle – Simon is now an Operations Director for John Sisk & Son Ltd based in Birmingham. Before that he worked with Carillion for 30 years. He graduated with a Construction Degree before moving into Commercial roles and responsibilities culminating as a Commercial Director in the London business. In 2002 he became the Operations Director for Carillion in the Midlands, South West and South Wales before focussing on the Birmingham City Business in 2007.
His previous projects include the Channel Tunnel, the Goodman Hatfield Business Park and University of Hertfordshire Campus, the Library of Birmingham and initial phases of the Argent Paradise Circus development.
He is now leading the preconstruction team for the 42 storey Moda development on Broad Street Birmingham.
Peter Yates – Peter is a registered architect, consultancy director, and a member of the Government’s (Grenfell) Industry Response Group, and a member of the Local Government Association as well the lead on the Construction West Midlands Framework.
Andrew James – Andrew is Head of Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Construction and Engineering Team and has practised construction law since 1988. He deals with both contentious and non-contentious aspects of building projects and is an accredited adjudicator and mediator. He has also chaired a Constructing Excellence best practice club for over 8 years and sits on the National Committee for the Technology and Construction Solicitors Association.
Keith Blizzard – Keith is a chartered quantity surveyor and non-solicitor Partner in the HCR Construction and Engineering Team. He is also a chartered construction manager, chartered arbitrator and panel adjudicator and has published over 400 awards. Prior to joining legal practice Keith had his own chartered quantity surveying and project management company.
Lucinda Baker – Lucinda is a Partner in HCR’s Construction and Engineering Team and acts for a wide range of clients in the industry including universities and educational institutions, banks, developers and specialist contractors and sub-contractors. She has recently been involved in the University of Gloucestershire £32million campus redevelopment at its Oxstalls Campus, Gloucester.
Robin Koolhoven – Robin is a Partner in HCR’s Restructuring and Insolvency Team and specialises in both contentious and non-contentious personal and corporate insolvency.
Kamal Chauhan – Kamal is a Partner in HCR’s Licensing and Regulatory Team and specialises in health and safety law and has acted for a wide variety of companies, directors and senior managers who are being investigated and prosecuted for breach of health and safety and environmental legislation.
