This year’s conference has a focus on the empowerment of individuals with brain injuries and the measures available to support and promote their involvement in decision-making and their independence.
This conference is aimed at professionals working with older or vulnerable people. It will provide an overview of the considerations to be made in relation to young adults with brain injuries who live in the community. Our speakers will be unpacking everything from personal injury claim considerations to financial management of compensation, the practicalities of case management and employment contracts for carers.
Our speakers on the day include:
- Gerard Anderson, Head of Brain Injury Services at the Child Brain Injury Trust, who will be considering the delicate balance between promoting independence and protecting vulnerability
- Nageena Khalique, KC, Sergeant’s Inn Chambers, who will explore the latest case law around best interests
- Joanna Bamberger, Case Manager and Social Worker at Bush & Co, who will consider some practical case management solutions which can better quality of life after compensation
- Ally Taft, Partner and Head of Clinical Negligence, Medical Accident Group, who will consider the complexities of handling cases for individuals who suffer brain injuries at birth.
Other speakers will discuss the comparison of PI Trusts and Deputyships and legal considerations for directly employed carers, their employment rights and the issues with home surveillance.
