Legal eagles carry off awards
Winning two of the top slots in the Worcestershire Law Society’s annual awards is cause for celebration for Harrison Clark Rickerbys lawyers.
Anita Hennessey and Syed Alam, who scooped the Solicitor of the Year and Young Solicitor of the year awards at Worcestershire Law Society’s annual awards dinner last Friday, have expressed their delight at the honour.
Anita, who is a member of the firm’s prestigious family law team and divides her time between Worcester and Birmingham, said: “I am really honoured; I was amazed when I was nominated and I am delighted to have won. Worcestershire has some really top-quality solicitors, so it is especially flattering to have been chosen in this way.”
Kevin Harris-James, partner with Harrison Clark Rickerbys, and head of family law for Worcester and Birmingham, said: “Anita’s quality shines through so I am not at all surprised that she has won. We have a really talented team here and Anita is among those who is always ready to go the extra mile for a client – literally, this year, because she’s running the London Marathon for a local charity too!”
Syed Alam, a member of Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ commercial property team, not only has a standard law degree but also a degree in Sharia Law. He specialises in secured lending for peer-to-peer lenders, insolvency issues and Islamic finance.
He said: “I am very pleased indeed to have won the award – I started with the firm in 2009 as a paralegal and to trace my career progression through to this stage is really satisfying. I have had some great support and mentoring within Harrison Clark Rickerbys and I would like to thank all those who have helped me.”
Mark Fabian, head of commercial property, said: “Syed’s award is richly deserved; he has always been a dedicated and able contributor to our team, and the Society has acknowledged his abilities. I am delighted for him.”
