HCR enables UK expansion for Chinese recruitment experts

Harrison Clark Rickerbys (HCR) advised Beijing Career International, a recruitment solutions provider in China, on its £22m acquisition of a 52.5 per cent stake in UK recruitment firm Investigo.

Investigo offers interim and permanent recruitment solutions to a diverse range of blue chip companies and SMEs across the UK, Europe and the US.

Beijing Career International offers a wide range of recruitment and staffing services, including consultancy advice on recruitment and talent assessment, operating mainly in mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Malaysia and across Asia.

The HCR team was led by Nicolas Groffman, assisted by Connie Lü, with support from the employment and real estate teams. Global lead counsel was King & Wood Mallesons. Weightmans LLP acted for the seller.

Nicolas Groffman said “I am delighted with the way the diverse teams worked together over the two months the deal took. We had real time communications in London, Cheltenham, Beijing and Boston, and this was a great example of multiple practice areas across the firm working smoothly together.

“It was particularly gratifying to work with such a talented team in both from Beijing Career International and KWM, all under the outstanding leadership of the client’s manager, Amy Chen.”

Ms Chen said: “Our acquisition gives us an excellent UK base for extending our services into Europe and beyond, and the combination of expertise and knowledge of both markets which HCR provided was a key factor in the success of the deal.”
