Senior Associate (TEP)

Why choose me

Life can be difficult. When times are tough, the legal complexities should be the least of your concerns. I enjoy helping people during the big life events, like births, deaths, and marriages, so that they can focus on what’s important to them. I try to make the legal processes as straightforward as possible, in an ever more complex world.

As a private client lawyer, I get to know my clients, their families, and their personal concerns on as deep as level as possible. This allows me to tailor bespoke solutions, rather than pick contracts off a shelf. It’s these personal interactions with my clients that I enjoy, and they allow me to make a real difference.

With more than 15 years in private client law, as a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly, and named as a rising star in the Legal 500, I am eminently qualified to act on your behalf in private matters regarding wills, estates, and personal tax. I’m a member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners)

Outside of work, I’m an amateur interior designer and an even more amateur gardener.

Questions my clients ask me

Don’t assume that your family or next of kin will be able to manage your affairs or make decisions for you. An application to the Court is likely to be required, which can be a lengthy and expensive process.

There are a number of factors to take into account. The most tax efficient way of selling is likely to involve an analysis of both the inheritance tax and capital gains tax position of the estate, plus the personal taxation of the individual(s) inheriting the property.

Whilst personal applications are possible, I would strongly recommend seeking professional advice, particularly if there is an inheritance tax issue. Executors can be held personally liable for any loss resulting from a breach of their duty.
