A bit about me

I specialise in intellectual property and technology law, helping clients with business and commercial advice. I’m passionate about technology, particularly in emerging markets such e-sports, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, and I use that passion to understand more about each business and how they work.

I’ve worked with all kinds of businesses, including technology companies and innovators, as well as magazines, sporting bodies and multinationals. Specialising in such an evolving and innovative area of law is challenging and enjoyable, and I value the experience that comes with working in a cutting-edge and fast-paced environment. I always take the time to get to know my clients and their core values better so I can help them progress.

Your brand is your biggest asset, so plan ahead and make sure you’re protected as soon as possible with the appropriate agreements and trademark registrations.

If you commissioned a piece of work or had software developed on your behalf, the intellectual property rights may not really belong to you, so make sure you own what you need to own and get a written contract early.

I think someone is using my trademark/copying my product – what do I do?

The action you’ll need to take will depend on the circumstances, but the first thing to do is show that you own the IP in your trademark or product and can demonstrate that it’s been infringed on. Be sure to speak to your legal adviser as early as possible.

How can I protect myself with a contract without scaring off potential clients?

Make sure your lawyer understands your business and can personalise an agreement to fit the needs of you and your customer – this will offer them the reassurance they need to proceed while ensuring you’re properly protected.
