As part of our corporate team, I advise businesses across all sectors on their corporate and commercial affairs. From sales and acquisitions to financial restructuring, I like to understand the strategic angle, figuring out where I can add value to the process and achieve the outcome sought by my client.
When I start working with any new client, I like to begin with a blank sheet of paper and see where the challenge takes us. I make myself available whenever needed, and I invariably cut to the chase, eliminating anything that can drag the deal out unnecessarily.
I work mainly with owner-managed businesses; recent examples include leading the expansion and diversification of the National Care Group and advising on the acquisition of Combe Grove Hotel in Bath.
I became Senior Partner in April 2018 and thoroughly enjoy that role. It enables me to see the wide diversity of expertise that HCR has at its disposal and the enthusiasm with which members of staff develop their individual careers and the engagement of HCR with their local communities.
In my spare time, I like to get involved in a variety of hobbies, including running, golf, tennis, and even church bell ringing. Most of all, however, I enjoy spending time with my wife and family.
One acronym always comes it mind – KISS, or keep it simple, stupid. It’s not the most original, but it always works!
Never stray off the beaten track in deal strategies unless there is a very good reason. Everyone’s been there before and we have tried and trusted method that work. Breaking the mould is not for the faint hearted!
Treat me as your trusted adviser – not a drain on finance and resources.

The feeling that I am different, have the capacity to analyse and isolate problems and to provide comprehensible solutions to difficult and wide ranging problems.
What gives you the greatest buzz?
Two things. Connecting people with a common interest or issue and clients who say thank you.
Your most difficult moment?
