Food Safety and Food Hygiene

If you run a food business, from a small takeaway to a major hotel or restaurant chain, you will sometimes need help complying with food safety and food hygiene regulations, dealing with breaches or defending your business or staff. When you’re in trouble, we will handle investigations and prosecutions and help you to minimise the financial and reputational fallout. We’re on call day and night.

Food safety fundamentals

Producing food that is safe to eat is central to any food business – customers are very aware of the ‘scores on the doors’ food hygiene rating system and both the Food Standard Agency and local authorities’ environmental health officers (EHOs) have a role in ensuring that businesses met the standards required.

EHOs may visit registered premises for several reasons, including food hygiene and food standards inspections, sampling, complaint follow-up and advisory visits.  If they find breaches of food safety and food hygiene regulations, they can start an investigation which could lead to prosecution.

Breaches of food safety and food hygiene legislation now carry significant financial penalties or even prison sentences and often create bad publicity for a business. If you do find yourself and your business in trouble over food safety or hygiene, we can provide expert advice and guidance to ensure the best possible outcome.
