Human Resources Advisor – Northampton

HCR has experienced a huge period of growth in the last 12 months. Our teams have gone from strength to strength, and following our merger with Hewitsons in May 2021, we now boast 11 offices and over 800 staff.

We need a strong, credible HR Advisor to partner with various teams across Northampton, Milton Keynes, Cambridge, Reading and London to build strong working relationships and support managers and Partners with key people matters. As this role will require an element of autonomy, it is important that this person is also happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved with HR projects, Operational Administration and Recruitment.

The Role:

Reporting to the HR Business Partner, this is a varied generalist role which includes:

  • Working closely with managers on bringing employee relations matters to a positive conclusion, including:
    • Disciplinary
    • Grievances
    • Performance Management
    • Sickness absence and Occupational Health
  • Supporting the Resourcing team with recruitment processes:
    • Provision of Contracts of Employment
  • Changes to Terms and Conditions of Employment
  • Contribute to and support the delivery of the monthly HRMI reporting
  • Delivering HR Inductions to all new starters
  • Conduct exit interviews, providing feedback to line managers
  • Maintaining employee data within the HR System, to ensure the highest level of data integrity
  • Act as first line support for all employees through life events; including family leave, and flexible working applications
  • Working with the team to support the continuous improvement of key employee lifecycle processes, inc. new starters, changes to terms and conditions, leavers and probationers
  • HR Project work as required

The person:

  • Level 5 CIPD qualified or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience of working in a busy HR role supporting multiple activities and dealing with a wide variety of internal/external customers.
  • Ability to work in a remote capacity and under own direction
  • Experience of the Performance Management Cycle including disciplinary, capability and grievance processes.
  • Knowledge and experience of HR software including HR Databases, employee’s self-service portals, etc.
  • Strong IT skills including use of spread sheets, word and powerpoint.
  • Self-starter, well organised and able to prioritise effectively in order to maintain high service level standards and efficiency.
  • Flexible, co-operative and supportive team player.
  • Approachable and supportive manner, with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people and establish effective working relationships with staff and managers.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy even when under pressure.
  • Good communication skills with fluency in English to produce high quality and accurate correspondence and documents.
  • Can demonstrate an appreciation of confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Has driving license and own vehicle to be able to reach other offices.
