HCR 227 – Senior Associate

This is a fantastic time to be joining Harrison Clark Rickerbys. Having grown exponentially over the last few years, we are now more than 560 strong with 9 offices across the UK.
We are now looking for a Senior Associate to come and join our Wills, Trusts and Estates Planning Team here in Cheltenham

As a Senior Associate – Main purpose:
To lead on all matters and work allocated to them to a standard expected for the corresponding level of experience and qualification held by the post holder. To work independently on matters seeking expert and/or external advice where appropriate.

International experience would be helpful but is not a pre-requisite for the role


  • Salary: DOE
  • Working Hours : Monday to Friday

Role of a Senior Associate

Service and Standards

  • To manage all client work allocated by the Head of Department or Supervising Partner in accordance with agreed procedures and quality standards
  • To ensure all client work is progressed expeditiously and that the client is kept informed of progress (including costs)
  • To exercise high standards of client care at all times in order to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • To maintain the strictest concern for and awareness of the need for data protection at all times in order to ensure confidentiality and security of all documentation and information
  • To consistently demonstrate compliance with the Firm’s policies, procedures and processes including regulatory compliance in order to mitigate risk and maintain the reputation of the Firm

Relationship Management

  • To be a supportive team player and to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • To communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, in order to assess needs and manage expectations
  • To build professional working relationships
  • To supervise more junior fee-earners and to support their development through coaching and mentoring

Financial Contribution

  • To maintain good financial disciplines, to include accurately recording all time engaged on client matters and to bill and progress payment from clients in line with the Firm’s policies
  • Maintain a fee income in line with targets and agreed objectives
  • To generate work for self in line with agreed targets
  • Responsible for credit control on own matters
  • To ensure compliance with the Solicitor Account Rules on the Professional Conduct of Solicitors

Business Development and Marketing the Firm

  • To market own skills and expertise to maximise client base and potential for work
  • To build the Firm’s brand, reputation and profile by networking as appropriate
  • To work in conjunction with other fee earners to cross-sell and maximise referrals
  • To understand own target market and adopt an individual plan to achieve growth in practice area alongside supporting the development of the Department’s Business Development plan and strategy

Technical and Legal

  • To ensure an up to date knowledge of relevant areas of the law and to be responsible for meeting all training requirements as defined by the Firm and/or governing bodies such as the SRA.
  • To undertake where relevant additional technical qualifications relevant to own practice area in order to develop expertise
  • To supervise and train others in more complex concepts relevant to own practice area
