Data protection – how to meet your needs

26th April 2022

Many of our clients need ongoing support on the issue of data protection – it can be a time-consuming and complex issue.

We know that compliance for businesses often requires intensive input from different parts of the business, which can be a real burden – we created a service for clients on a call-off basis, at an agreed retainer rate to cover their anticipated need over the term of a few months or for a longer data protection project.

So, while appointing a permanent member of staff to manage data compliance may seem excessive, having call-off support from qualified lawyers via HCR Data Flex can provide the timely and specific advice needed.

Data protection is ultimately the responsibility of the directors,  but compliance is achieved by co-ordinating processes and procedures across the business. There is often a need for staff training or to support a member of staff who has not yet developed the knowledge or experience to manage all data compliance alone.

The HCR Data Flex model allows us to get to know your business and the data protection touchpoints and to work closely with you, and to:

  • review current compliance and risk to the business
  • carry out a data audit
  • support you on internal and external data processing (including business contracts)
  • provide and help you to finalise compliance documents and records
  • guide you through the regular reviews and updates required
  • manage a DSAR
  • manage a data breach
  • respond to ICO enquiries, investigations or correspondence.

We can also provide ad-hoc project-based support, for example if you need additional resource when you have significant data to review for a data subject access request, or where you have a short-term vacancy to cover.
