A client trying to sell their nursing home was faced with having to recover possession from one elderly resident, and our dispute resolution team stepped in to help.

The team in Cheltenham found that the elderly resident concerned was causing major issues with the other residents and staff at the nursing home and making damaging allegations within the home and publicly.

They adopted a firm but fair approach with the resident over a set time scale, using a formal process in tandem with direct sensitive approaches by the client. Coupled with a refusal to be deflected, the team’s support for staff and the client, including providing a script of what should be said and written, their approach succeeded in ending the residency and recovering possession.

The client said: “On behalf of the trustees, I would like to thank you and the rest of the team for all the hard work that you have put into this and the support you offered in what has been a very difficult time.”
