HCR Law advises Ground Control on sale to CLS

HCR Law’s South West Corporate team has advised Ground Control on its successful sale to CLS Group – a move that will drive innovation and international growth.

Ground Control is a Gloucester-headquartered specialist in satellite IoT devices and cloud-based monitoring platforms, with four main locations in the UK and US. It develops robust devices integrated with its own IoT platform, providing mission-critical communication solutions to clients across industries such as renewable energy and disaster response.

The company has been acquired by CLS, a subsidiary of CNES (the French Space Agency) and global leader in satellite-based monitoring and connectivity. CLS has been developing space-based technologies for nearly 40 years, combining satellite data, IoT connectivity and advanced analytics to deliver insights that help decision-makers protect and manage the planet’s resources.

By joining the CLS Group, Ground Control gains access to greater resources to accelerate innovation and better serve its customers. The partnership will see Ground Control and CLS working together to deliver end-to-end solutions, combining CLS’s space-based IoT services with Ground Control’s robust hardware and cloud platforms.

Ground Control will continue to develop technology under its own brand, bolstered by CLS’s global scale, scientific expertise and environmental commitment.

The deal was advised on by HCR Law’s South West Corporate team, led by Partner and Head of South West Corporate, Rachael Reeves.
