HCR Law provides governance support to University of Gloucestershire

When the University of Gloucestershire sought experienced governance support, it appointed HCR Law to provide Director of Governance Services for a one-year term, with Rachel Gwynne, Partner and Head of Charities and Not-for-Profit, leading the engagement.

Working closely with the university, Rachel delivered strategic governance advice and support, drawing on her extensive experience advising charities and not-for-profit organisations.

As part of the engagement, Rachel undertook a comprehensive review of the university’s Governance Framework and Scheme of Delegation. She provided clear recommendations and practical guidance to help strengthen and modernise governance arrangements, ensuring they remained effective and fit for the future.

Rachel also led a governor development event focused on sector regulation, helping governors and senior stakeholders navigate the evolving regulatory landscape. The event was well received and demonstrated her ability to engage effectively with board members and senior leaders.

Throughout the project, Rachel was supported by Rosie Phillips, a former law student at the University of Gloucestershire, whose contribution further enhanced the service provided.
