Commercial law is a dynamic, constantly evolving area of law. As a solicitor in this area of law, it is my job to get to know you and your business inside out. I ensure that your interests are protected and deliver practical advice without the legal jargon. I work with you to identify any potential issues and risks so you can avoid these arising in the future.
As a contract specialist, I’ve worked with international fast food restaurant chains, retailers, financial service providers and charities to name a few.
Outside work, my passions include playing tennis, watching rugby, travelling and playing the piano!
Seek legal advice when entering into a contract to ensure that it protects your legal interests.
Existing regulations are regularly being updated and new regulations are coming into force all the time. Make sure your policies and standard documents are up to date.
Don’t just rely on pre-contractual discussions or negotiations. Make sure that you have a written contract in place that accurately reflects the terms that have been agreed.
Can I get out of this contract?
Most contracts include a termination clause which outlines your rights, and the method by which you can terminate the contract. Depending on what the terms of your contract say, it may not be that simple to ‘get out’ of the contract and you may: need to wait a certain period of time before you can terminate or not be able to terminate the contract immediately. You may therefore need to give a certain amount of notice to terminate the contract.
What are the key risks in this contract that I should be aware of?
Every contract is different, however there may be a number of onerous provisions that are hard to spot within the terms. We can review your contract and provide a summary of the key risks to the business, as well as advise on how the contract can be amended to best protect your interests.
