Grace Norris

Solicitor

Why choose me

As a lawyer in the Family team, I support my clients through some of the most difficult periods of their lives. I’m very much a people person and chose this area of law as it allows me to make a real difference.

No two family law matters are the same. By understanding my client’s situation and their ideal outcome, I identify the best way to achieve this for them. I have keen attention to detail and walk clients through the process and documentation, making sure they’re comfortable at every stage.

I’m very empathetic and understand the stresses involved in relationship or wider family matters. Good communication is key to managing expectations and making the process as smooth as possible. This is why I’m always happy to have calls or meetings with my clients to go through anything which isn’t clear and to help move the matter forward.

I’ve acted for a range of clients including high net worth individuals, vulnerable adults, and same sex couples. I advise on a full range of family matters including financial arrangements on divorce, child arrangements, pre-nups and matters with overseas elements.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy reading, going to the cinema, theatre and concerts. I keep fit through running and Zumba classes and I also love travelling. My favourite places to visit so far have been Hawaii and Japan.

Questions my clients ask me

No, it’s not always necessary to go to Court to obtain a Child Arrangements Order. You and your ex-partner can agree the arrangements between yourselves informally without any formal agreement. However, there are circumstances where a formal Child Arrangements Order may be more suitable. I’m happy to discuss your circumstances if you are concerned about access to your children.

Yes, there are other options we can consider including: mediation, alternative dispute resolution, arbitration, early neutral evaluation and private FDRs. I understand that the Court process can be highly stressful as well as costly, and that some clients prefer to explore other options to achieve a resolution with their ex-partner concerning their financial or child arrangements.

It can take between six to eight months to finalise a divorce. A divorce order is made in two stages. The first stage is applying for the conditional order, which can be done 20 weeks after the divorce application is issued. The second stage is applying for the final order, which can be done once six weeks and one day has passed from the day the conditional order was made. However, it should be noted that the final order should not be applied for until the financial matters have been finalised.
