About me

Achieving the best deal on a sale, or helping a business expand by moving into new facilities, is why I enjoy practicing property law.

At the start of our relationship, I’ll work with you to find out more about you and your personal or business successes and challenges. Risk is a very personal thing, so once we understand how you operate, it’s much easier to advise you.

I have a wide range of expertise working for major corporate companies, SMEs and private individuals in buying, selling or leasing commercial or residential property including development projects. I’ll bring a sense of humour and a ‘can do’ attitude to the deal, and I’m also very proactive and commercially-focused.

Outside of work, I like cars and football, especially Manchester United and my children’s team, Gotherington Football Club. I also love walking in the countryside, especially if there is a pub at the end!

Urgent office expansion for fast growing online mortgage broker

With an urgent need to expand, Habito wanted a building not only for its location and size but also to reflect the culture and disruptive nature of their business model. Philip Parkinson, Partner and Head of Real Estate in Worcester, has been working with Habito for over six months.  From helping them to expand temporarily to looking at a major relocation of their office space, they needed a lawyer to cover the basics but also deliver quickly to ensure their very tight deadlines were met. Gareth Griffith, Chief of Staff at Habito, said “We worked with Philip Parkinson of HCR on our recent central London office expansion.  We set very tight deadlines and needed to move fast to keep up with our growth.  Philip advised us on the move and we were impressed by his understanding of the demands of a fast-growing start up.  We enjoyed working with Philip and appreciated his straight forward and commercial approach.”

New central London office for NGO

Needing assistance with their major new Central London office, non-governmental organisation (NGO) CDP Worldwide came to HCR for advice. Philip Parkinson, Partner and Head of Real Estate in Worcester, helped CDP with the legal process involved in negotiating a new London lease deal against a backdrop of the aggressive London property market. As an NGO, CDP had an important need for value and received strong, cost effective, experienced commercial advice during their time-critical move. Simon Barker, CFO of CDP said “It’s horses for courses; HCR provided twice the value at less than half the price of the reputable mid-tier city law firm we misguidedly used for our previous office transaction. Philip is highly recommended.”

Is this normal?

Yes is the usual answer, but it’s a no, we’ll explain and advise you as to why.

Would you buy it?

This is difficult to answer but if we are asked it, we’ll use it as an opportunity to go over the key issues again.

Is the other side playing ball?

This process is all about good communication, and the better and more direct the communication is between the solicitors and agents, the easier the deal will be.
