Tia Oxlade

Solicitor

Why choose me

I’m a family lawyer, advising clients in relation to relationship breakdowns, arrangements for children, and divorce and financial matters.

Focusing on family law is extremely rewarding, allowing me to help others through what are often emotional and stressful periods in their lives.

I’m naturally empathetic and compassionate and use my experience in family matters to make a real difference. Every family matter is unique. By taking time to understand the specific circumstances in each case, I tailor my advice to work towards my client’s preferred outcome.

I work with a wide range of individuals with varying backgrounds and levels of complexity in their legal needs. Matters I advise on include child contact and living arrangements, domestic abuse cases (including non-molestation and occupation orders), divorce and financial matters (including provisions for children).

I’m genuinely passionate about making a difference which is why I chose this area of law. When I’m not at work, I love travelling and walking my dogs.

Questions my clients ask me

The new divorce process takes a minimum of 26 weeks (six months) under the new no fault procedure. If you need to resolve the matrimonial finances as well, this can increase to 12 to 18 months. Much depends on whether you and your ex-spouse are able to reach an agreement outside of court or whether court proceedings are required. We will be able to give you a more tailored time estimate within our initial meeting.

This will depend on a range of factors, including whether you need advice on the divorce process, matrimonial finances, and/or children act matters. If you need advice on finances, it will depend on how complex the assets are and whether any specific expert evidence is required. The costs will also depend on your spouse’s approach to resolve matters, and whether court proceedings are required. We will provide you with a detailed cost estimate following our initial meeting.

When resolving any dispute, involving court proceedings should always be considered as the last resort. It’s advisable, if possible, to reach an agreement outside of court. We will discuss other types of non-court dispute resolutions, their advantages and disadvantages and how suitable those alternatives are to you and your circumstances in our initial meeting.
