Business sale allows time for seller’s motoring passion

Our corporate team in the Wye Valley has given a Bromyard businessman the time to enjoy his passion for classic cars after they handled the sale of his well-known petrol station, making sure the deal went through even during lockdown.

John Bishop, who did his apprenticeship in the 1960s at the bypass site when it belonged to Ross’s, then went on to found his own business in the town, trading as J.D. Bishop (Linden Garage) for 23 years. He took on the Ford franchise in the 1980s and then, in 1996, he was offered the bypass site, where he traded until the recent sale.

The sale was handled by Arpinder Dhillon, head of the corporate team in Hereford and the Wye Valley.

John Bishop said: “Arpinder and her team did an excellent job, being firm and holding her own when things got tough. I have decided to concentrate on my passion which is classic cars, so I will be carrying on the business concentrating on that.”

Arpinder said: “I’m glad we were able to ensure that John got the deal he wanted; this is a well-established business which is very well-known locally, and now John has the chance to focus on what he really loves.”
