Ship tracking company acquired by S&P Global following deal advised on by Corporate and International Partners

6th April 2023

Worldwide provider of financial intelligence S&P Global has acquired UK-based tech firm Tradenet and its live vessel-tracking platform Market Intelligence Network (MINT) following a deal acted on by Corporate and International Partner Dr Saverio Salandra and Head of Corporate Richard Wilkey.

The deal will allow S&P Global Commodity Insights to widen its capacity to analyse and track commodity shipments. Tradenet is the developer of MINT, which is sold through S&P Global.

Corporate finance advice to Tradenet was provided by Damian Woodward and Tom Imlay of Bean Partners.

Duncan Murray, director and shareholder at Tradenet, said: “Saverio was our corporate lawyer handling the acquisition of Tradenet. He and the team from HCR was excellent in understanding our existing, unusual relationship with S&P and negotiated with their lawyers in an excellent and professional manner. Their experience in dealing with companies like S&P was invaluable.”

Saverio said: “This acquisition is of great significance to both companies. Tradenet’s vessel tracking capabilities will bolster S&P Global Commodity Insights’ offering to its clients as well as providing its analytics portfolio with marked new capabilities. I wish both parties the best of luck.”
