The club, whose motto is ‘service before self’, supports the local community in Worcester by way of funding and volunteering for, local projects in need of support. One such annual project was providing Christmas parcels of food to those most in need in the local area.
Anita and Cathryn have recently marshalled in aid of the Worcester full and half marathon on behalf of St Richard’s Hospice. They can often be seen in Victorian fancy dress at the Christmas Fayre, which is the club’s main fundraising event, closely following by its annual sports day – this has attracted many participants across the firm, enjoying the three-legged race and tug of war involving many other local businesses.
The club also supports international projects such as the Rotary-wide project “End Polio Now” which has contributed to a complete eradication of polio in some countries.
Cathryn is currently the club’s Youth Officer and recently hosted a photography competition which attracted many children wishing to showcase their talents in capturing images of Worcester, with a prize being presented by the Mayor. The next project, due to start soon, is a reading programme in local primary schools, alongside interviews and CV writing support in local secondary schools.
Anita and Cathryn were recently invited to the inaugural Mayor of Worcester’s banquet representing Worcester Vigornia’s efforts in the local community.
