40 years of Silicon Spa: how technology continues to shape our local economy

HCR Pulse is a new event series from HCR Law’s Leamington Spa office, bringing together mid-career professionals and emerging senior leaders from across the region who have taken on, or are progressing towards, decision-making roles.

Through a programme of topical events, HCR Pulse will provide an opportunity to hear practical perspectives on the issues shaping our local economy, exchange ideas with people from a range of sectors and build connections with peers at a similar stage in their careers.

The launch event, 40 years of Silicon Spa: how technology continues to shape our local economy, will explore the region’s evolution as a technology hub and how the rise of generative AI is influencing and could further shape local organisations, skills and growth.

What to expect

Join us from 7.30am for breakfast, networking and informal conversation before a 15-minute presentation tracing the story of Silicon Spa over the past four decades, from the region’s growth as a technology hub to the impact generative AI is beginning to have on the local economy.

This will be followed by a broader panel discussion examining how local businesses in all sectors are being shaped by the rise of generative AI.

The panel will consider the adoption of generative AI in practice. The panel will discuss what generative AI means for organisations in our region, including how it is being used, where it is adding value, and the practical questions it raises around investment, skills and risk.

There will then be further time to continue the discussion and connect with fellow attendees.
