Building your roadmap to compliance

29 March 2018

We recently held two seminars to provide insight into the new GDPR regulations that come into force on the 25 May.  GDPR will be the new legal framework for data protection in the UK and across Europe – it will take over from the Data Protection Act and all businesses that hold or process the personal data of EU individuals will need to comply with it.  This will include data on staff, suppliers and sub-contractors.

It introduces new concepts and approaches for the protection of personal data – for example ‘consent’ must be given on an ‘opt-in’ basis and separate permissions are required for different activities.

We were keen to ensure that our speakers focussed on the opportunities for businesses in becoming GDPR compliant and encouraged attendees to begin to develop their own action plan during the seminar that they could take back to their businesses with key actions.

The seminar was introduced by Robert Capper, head of our Commercial team and included presentations from Rob Cobley and Steve Murray.  We were also joined by two external consultants, Tony Betts on day 1 and Gordon Petrie from Augmentum on day 2.

Feedback from the event has been hugely positive, with most attendees stating that whilst they have attended many GDPR events, “This was probably the most practical seminar that I have attended.”

During day 1 – we spoke to two attendees firstly to understand their objective for attending and at the end to understand what their takeaway was.
