Harrison Clark Rickerbys shortlisted for two prestigious EducationInvestor Awards

5 November 2020

Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ education team has been shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Legal advisors to education institutions’, and ‘deal making’ categories at the EducationInvestor Awards 2020. The awards recognise professionals and companies who have made outstanding contributions to the education sector during the last year.

Our 20+strong team, wholly dedicated to education, act for, advise and support a wide range of independent schools, nurseries, academies and multi-academy trusts, as well as further education and higher education institutions. Our work with the sector started 50 years ago, and in 2020 we have been the team schools turned to in a crisis. Staffing issues, financial trouble or the chaos wrought by the Covid-19 pandemic find us at the heart of schools’ solutions to their problems.

In addition, over the last twelve months we have supported dozens of schools with mergers and sales. We don’t just provide excellent legal advice on the transaction but we often find and introduce the school to the buyer or another school to merge with, suggest the best way to structure the deal for both parties and introduce the school to other necessary experts such as specialist surveyors and communication experts. We put the deal together, securing the future of the school and working with investors/buyers to expand their school groups – often with an international element.

Kristine Scott, Partner, Head of Education, said: “We were embedded in education before the pandemic and the strength of those connections meant we were the ‘go-to’ firm for advice and support when troubled times hit schools across the nation. We are valued for our multi-disciplined approach to advising on the law, and our ability to respond to change early and effectively. Being shortlisted for these awards is testament to our dedication to the sector and our clients”.

The awards are being held online, on 3 December 2020.
