HCR Cardiff raise over £12,000 for charity

Here at HCR, our work with charities both at local and national level holds great importance to us.

Our Cardiff office never shy away from a challenge in the name of a good cause, and last year we proudly raised a total of £12,415.43 for our chosen charity, Tŷ Hafan. Tŷ Hafan provides holistic palliative care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families from throughout Wales.

The most significant fundraising challenge we undertook last year was the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge on 11 June 2023. On this gruelling day, our team of 12 walkers covered a distance of 20.35 miles and a total ascent of 9,397ft (2,864m) in order to reach the summits of Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen-Y-Fan. A challenge not for the faint hearted!

In addition, eight novice runners successfully completed the Barry Island 10k race together; and our HCR golf team triumphed at Tŷ Hafan’s golf day.

A physical challenge is not the only way we give back. In December 2023, we took part in the Tŷ Hafan pantomime ‘Deck the Halls with Christmas Barbie’. We gave a sterling performance and spread the festive cheer for the benefit of the children and their families at the hospice.

We are immensely proud to support our chosen charities. Without the unwavering efforts from the office and kind generosity of HCR as a whole, our achievements would not be possible. Whether it be attending a suitably themed rugby fundraising event, or a comedy quiz night, there is something for everyone to get involved in.

We are delighted to announce that our chosen charity for 2024 will be Maggie’s Centre Cardiff.

Maggie’s is an independent charity that offers invaluable free practical and emotional support to those suffering with cancer and their families across their 26 centres in the UK, and three international centres. Maggie’s centres sit alongside the major cancer hospitals across the UK. Their staff are NHS-trained and offer specialist support regarding treatment options, psychological support and benefits knowledge.

It is so important for us to give back to those in the community who need it most, and we are all very much looking forward to making a difference to Maggie’s over the next 12 months.
