HCR Law strengthens Real Estate team with new Partner bringing specialist investment expertise

Paul Alger

Commercial real estate specialist Paul Alger has joined HCR Law as a Partner in the firm’s growing London office, bringing expertise in high-value real estate investment transactions.

Paul specialises in high-profile acquisitions and disposals of investment assets in the UK. His arrival strengthens HCR’s specialist investment offering, following the recent appointment of Cara Keen, Partner in the Norwich office, who similarly focuses on high-value commercial real estate transactions.

Advising institutional investors and developers, Paul’s recent highlights include leading on the £600 million sale of two designer outlet centres, one of which is the largest in the UK; acting for a major UK pension fund on the £90 million disposal of a London shopping centre; and guiding an institutional client through the real estate aspects of a £200 million property fund sale.

Paul also brings extensive experience across all types of real estate work, including financings, re-financings, lettings and development projects.

His appointment reflects continued expansion in HCR’s commercial property team, which also welcomed Robert Pyke as Partner in October.

Commenting on his appointment, Paul said: “I’m really pleased to be joining HCR Law at such a dynamic time. The firm’s reputation for delivering high-quality, client-centred advice continues to grow in London.

“I’m looking forward to supporting clients with complex investment deals, helping them achieve their goals and playing a role in the firm’s next chapter of growth.”

He joins HCR at a time of sustained national growth. In response to increasing client demand, the firm relocated its London team to WTW (Willis Towers Watson), 51 Lime Street, in the City of London, where Paul will be based.

This expansion continued in November with the acquisition of Leamington Spa-based law firm Wright Hassall, bringing HCR’s total number of offices in England and Wales to 12, with over 1,000 staff and a turnover of approximately £112m.

Philip Parkinson, Head of Real Estate at HCR Law, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Paul to the team. His experience in high-value investment work adds real strength to our offering as we continue to grow our real estate team in London, supporting our clients across London and nationally.

“With our growth continuing at pace, we’re well placed to support our clients.”
