New garden centre opens after letting acted on by Head of Real Estate Cheltenham

2nd June 2023

Cheltenham’s Promenade has a new shop following a letting acted on by Head of Real Estate Cheltenham Ben Thomas.

106 Promenade had been a Gap clothing store for many years, but is now home to an innovative new garden centre, Dobbies.

This is the sixth ‘little’ Dobbies of its kind – which aims to bring garden centres into town and cities, rather than out-of-town industrial estates. Selling a range of houseplants, gardening products, plant care and decorations, the shop is expected to thrive amongst the town’s green-fingered community.

Acting for a local property investment firm, Ben’s work on the letting involved collaborating with a number of local planning consultants, architects, building surveyors and property agents in order to get listed building consent, landlord’s works and tenant’s fit out works.

Following the successful negotiation and opening of the shop, Ben said: “Being able to provide the community with a new retail experience such as this ‘little’ Dobbies is what real estate law is all about – it’s great to see a fresh shop open in this historic part of town.”

Peter Ogden, Managing Surveyor , said: “My thanks to Ben Thomas and the team at HCR – they made the letting process a smooth one, and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to make Cheltenham Dobbies’ latest home.”
