We’re passionate about people and making a difference in our local communities. That’s why we’ve launched the Hewitson Grant – a new initiative to help students in Cambridge take their first steps towards a career in law.
What is the Hewitson Grant?
The Hewitson Grant has been designed to support Cambridge students with an interest in the legal profession.
One grant will be awarded each year, starting in 2026.
Open to Year 12 and Year 13 student from eligible, non-fee-paying school in Cambridge, the grant includes:
- £5,000 to pursue a legal qualification of their choice
- Work experience with HCR Law during their second or third year of study.
The grant is named in honour of Hewitsons’ long-standing reputation in Cambridge, , following our change in name from HCR Hewitsons to HCR Law in October 2025.
HCR Law is working closely with eligible schools to launch the Hewitson Grant in January 2026.
These schools will nominate up to four students in Year 12 or Year 13 to apply via a written or video submission. Each school will then shortlist two candidates, who will be invited to an interview at HCR’s Cambridge office before the grant recipient is chosen.
Natalie Minott, Head of Cambridge Office, said: “At HCR Law, we’re committed to making a meaningful impact in our local communities. The Hewitson Grant is a powerful way for us to support Cambridge’s next generation of legal professionals.
“We’re delighted to continue the Hewitsons’ legacy through this initiative, helping students overcome barriers to pursuing a career in law.
“We’re excited to launch this opportunity in 2026 and look forward to meeting the shortlisted students soon.”
