Heading for the heights – lawyers face Three Peaks Challenge for charity

Heading for the heights at the weekend, a team of 12 from Three Counties law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys will take on the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing 2,527m in total to raise over £3,000 for charity.

The team, supported by four drivers, will tackle Ben Nevis first on Saturday afternoon – part of the 1,345m climb will be in the dark, before they drive on to Scafell Pike in Cumbria, which is 978m high. They make their final ascent of Snowdon, where they will have to complete the final 1,085m within the 24-hour time limit.

Charlotte Thornton-Smith, head of the firm’s Worcester office, said: “We’re doing this in aid of our own charitable trust, which makes donations regularly to charities and good causes across the Three Counties. It was founded in 2007 and since then it has made more than £200,000 of grants. It supports individuals and projects, small charities and large, and every kind of cause which is close to the hearts of people in the Three Counties.

“We had a practice session on Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons, which went well – we hope the weather is as kind to us for the real thing as it was then. We are very lucky to have been lent four Audis for the weekend by Hereford Audi, a client – the walkers are especially grateful since the drives between mountains will give us our only chance of sleep!”
