Paul Ridout

Partner, Healthcare Regulatory

Why choose me

With over 50 years acting for health and social care businesses and individuals, I’m well-versed in the challenges faced by those in the sector and the best way to overcome them. I’ve seen the profession change from a cottage industry dominated by individual professionals to one which is run by global investors.

I work with providers who are involved in high-pressure legal situations which pose a commercial or reputational risk to their business, advising on all aspects of health and social care regulation as well as offering practical advice on the operation of those services.

Working with hundreds of care business around the country, I have advised on health and special education social care issues and cases. Other clients have included providers, regulators, developers and financiers of private health and social care services.

Specialising in crisis management in health and special education social care services, I advise on operational and regulatory issues along with their acquisition and disposal.

My unique experience in the sector means I also have a particular specialism in the operation, regulation and funding of care service businesses, along with the law around public finance allocation and regulation.

I’ve also written a number of legal textbooks, and have produced and delivered a degree-standard educational course for the training of health and social care regulators. Alongside this, I’ve lectured widely on the financing, management and regulation of health and special education social care businesses.
