Why choose me
I specialise in advising clients working and living in rural areas with their property and business needs, particularly when it comes to transacting with their agricultural land, farm buildings and homes.
Having spent my childhood in rural Hampshire before moving to Lincolnshire, I’ve always felt an affinity with the countryside. When I started my legal career, specialising in rural property felt like a natural progression. I’m passionate about working in a sector that’s so important to our country’s food security and sustainability.
Most of my clients are private landowners and landed estates. I specialise in strategic land disposals, including option agreements, promotion agreements and collaboration agreements. I advise borrowers and lenders on agricultural secured lending, as well as advising on farm sales and purchases and the grant of agricultural tenancies.
I take the time to understand my clients, their businesses and the things that matter most to them. This helps me provide clear, pragmatic advice that’s tailored to their circumstances. I’m thorough when it comes to the detail, but also focused on the end goal, distinguishing between what’s essential and what will help get a transaction over the line.
I’m a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association and am ranked as an ‘Associate to Watch’ by Chambers and Partners.
Outside work, I enjoy keeping my mind and body healthy through regular exercise and mindfulness. I love visiting new places, particularly remote and rural locations, and being on, in or near the water. I also enjoy painting and drawing, as well as reading and writing, particularly poetry.

Questions my clients ask me
I started my legal career as a paralegal in criminal law. I found it fascinating, but deep down I knew it wasn’t for me. When the firm I worked for lost its legal aid contract for defence work, I was moved to the residential property department. It turned out I was actually very good at transactional property work and had ‘accidentally’ found my calling! I now advise on all types of property transactions, with a particular focus on rural business property.
I really do. Of course, it comes with its stresses and challenges, but it allows me to work with like-minded people and be part of an important community.
