Winning mix of legal expertise supports Worcester charity

The winning combination of legal expertise in both construction and healthcare offered by Harrison Clark Rickerbys proved to be just what the Abbeyfield Worcester Society needed for the creation of their new retirement apartments in Worcester.

The charity is creating 37 apartments at White Ladies Close, off the Tything, and needed the firm’s legal services to advise on the initial contract, on the longer-term legal aspects of the facility, and on financial issues throughout the process.

The apartments, designed for people who want to live independently but need some level of help, will be for lease or for sale and the complex includes communal facilities as well as gardens and parking.

Andrew James, head of Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ construction and engineering team, said: “The charity came to us about a year ago because they are not usually involved in new build schemes – their existing facility in Worcester is in a period house on London Road.

“Not only can we offer them expertise in the field of construction but my colleague Louise Crook has considerable experience in the healthcare side of commercial property, so we can provide really valuable practical experience and support across the board.”

Gerald Harris, chairman of trustees for the Abbeyfield Worcester Society, said: “We have been very happy with the level of service we have received from Andrew and from Louise. As a local charity, we are especially pleased to be able to use local expertise of such high quality whenever we can.”
