HCR Law’s Corporate team has advised Mademoiselle Desserts, a leading European sweet bakery manufacturer, on its acquisition of The English Cheesecake Company.

The deal brings together two trusted bakery providers with a shared focus on innovation and growth. Together, they will strengthen their capacities and create opportunities for expansion across the UK and Europe.

Mademoiselle Desserts operates across the UK, France and the Netherlands, producing high-quality sweet bakery products for retail and food service. The group is owned by Swiss dairy company Emmi, which is pursuing growth in premium dessert and bakery segments.

The English Cheesecake Company holds a strong position in the premium cheesecake market, with products stocked by all major UK retail chains. Its retail presence complements Mademoiselle Desserts’ strength in the food service market, creating significant potential for growth.

Corporate Partners Derek Callanan and Tim Ward led the transaction, supported by Associate Mark Edwards and colleagues from the wider team at HCR Law.

Derek commented: “We’re delighted to have supported and advised our client in getting this deal over the line. This is a great outcome for all parties and was very much a cross-discipline approach, with colleagues from across the firm providing expertise during the deal. I’d like to extend my thanks to them.”

HCR Law is widely recognised for its mergers and acquisitions (M&A) expertise. In Experian’s latest UK M&A report, the Corporate team retained first position as the most active dealmakers in the UK by a substantial margin of 52 deals.
