HCR Law launches HCR Spark Prize to support aspiring legal professionals in Northamptonshire
16 February 2026
HCR Law’s Central England office has launched HCR Spark, a new initiative to support and mentor Year 12 students in Northamptonshire who are interested in exploring a career in law.
HCR Spark offers one student from a participating school the chance to gain invaluable insight into the legal profession. The programme is open to students from participating schools who have demonstrated perseverance, commitment and a desire to learn – whether they’re already considering a career in law or simply curious about what the sector has to offer.
Each year, one student will receive the HCR Spark Prize, which includes:
- A one-week structured work placement at HCR Law during the summer vacation scheme
- £500 in cash
- Ongoing mentoring and support from experienced lawyers
- A commemorative trophy to celebrate their achievement.
How HCR Spark works
Students from participating schools are invited to submit a short video introducing themselves and explaining why they should win the HCR Spark Prize. Schools will coordinate entries and support students throughout the process.
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the HCR Law team, with winners announced in the summer term. The work placement will take place in July and August, giving students a real-world experience of life in a law firm and the chance to develop skills that will benefit them in future studies and careers.
