KMC Transport announced as Official Bike Parking Sponsor for Chariots of Fire 2026

On 20 September 2026, the iconic HCR’s Chariots of Fire six-person team 1.7 mile relay race returns to Cambridge for the 34th year.

And this year, a new partnership is set to make arriving at Chariots of Fire 2026 easier, greener and more convenient as Cambridge-based transport planning consultancy KMC Transport is confirmed as the event’s Official Bike Parking Sponsor.

The race regularly attracts approximately 2,000 runners and has raised more than £1.6m for charities since it was first run in 1992. This year it is raising money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

The new KMC Transport Bike Parking Hub will provide secure parking for up to 50 bicycles adjacent to the Event Village, encouraging participants and spectators to choose active travel when attending the event. The area will be clearly signposted and stewarded throughout the day.

KMC Transport is a transport and infrastructure consultancy with a strong focus on active travel, sustainable infrastructure and transport planning, making the partnership a natural fit for the event.

The sponsorship will be featured across event signage, communications and digital channels, highlighting the shared commitment of both organisations to promoting healthier, more sustainable communities.

The Chariots of Fire race starts on Queen’s Green and runs through the centre of Cambridge, taking runners across college courts, walkways and riverside paths. Crossing Trinity’s Great Court – associated with the Chariots of Fire film – is one of the event’s defining moments.

From there, the course continues along Garret Hostel Lane into the grounds of King’s College. Runners follow the River Cam along the Backs, with views across to the iconic King’s College Chapel.

The final stage returns to Queen’s Green, where the baton is passed between teammates. The relay format keeps the focus on both individual effort and team performance.
