3rd October 2023

Cyber security firm Sapphire has expanded its offering to clients following a deal facilitated by Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Cardiff Corporate team. The firm acquired the IP and assets of Awen Collective Limited, a cyber security software company based in South Wales. Awen Collective specialises in the discovery and analysis of Operational Technology systems across defence, healthcare, manufacturing and utilities in the emerging Operational Technology Security market.

Operational Technology detects changes through the monitoring of industrial equipment and is used across a wide range of industries.

This transaction is expected to widen Sapphire’s service offering in order to support organisations to secure themselves from cyber threats.

Corporate Partner Theresa Grech, who acted for Awen Collective Limited during the acquisition, said: “Threats to cyber security are one of the biggest dangers to businesses and individuals at the moment. Sapphire’s acquisition strengthens both its position in the market while boosting its offering to clients through Awen Collective’s specialist knowledge of Operational Technology. I wish them a long and successful future.”

Partner and Head of Technology, Nicola McNeely, who was the Client Care Partner for Awen Collective until their acquisition, said: “I’m pleased that this deal has gone so smoothly – Sapphire’s expansion into South Wales with the acquisition of Awen Collective shows they are committed to providing expertise and innovation in the Operational Technology sector in Wales and beyond. The tech sector in South Wales is thriving, and this acquisition goes to show that.”
