HCR’s EU links strengthened in Netherlands

16th March 2021

Bolstering our existing relationships in the Netherlands, Legal Director Rachael King is now based in The Hague and advising clients trading between the EU and UK.

Her commercial law experience includes advising clients based in Europe doing business with the UK and UK clients on cross border transactions. She has worked recently with German lawyers to advise a UK business on the importation of industrial machinery, and with Italian specialists to resolve a dispute between a UK pharmaceutical company, and its Italian distributor.

She regularly advises on EU-derived legislation, in the areas of commercial agency, consumer protection and competition and has also presented and advised extensively on GDPR and associated data privacy legislation affecting the EU and UK.

Rachael first joined HCR in 2014, but her move to The Hague last year, just ahead of Brexit, has added a new dimension to her work.

She said: “Getting clients the right legal advice in the right timescale can be business critical, and sometimes being on the ground can make that crucial difference. Because I can handle English law issues, I can help UK clients who are negotiating their new relationships with the EU, but also EU clients getting to grips with trading with the UK, linking them with the expertise available across HCR.”
