Working with entrepreneurial and innovative people in Wales and across the UK, especially in advanced manufacturing and technology businesses, is a pleasure, and I focus on working closely with clients to solve their problems and really understand how their businesses work. That understanding enables me to give succinct and pragmatic advice.

Protecting your digitals assets

Distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) such as blockchain have created exciting new ways to share assets and information. Originally created as a solution to perceived issues with mainstream financial services, the opportunities that this type of technology brings are wide reaching.

Our lawyers advise on the commercial use of blockchain as well as all types of cryptocurrencies and cryptoassets. The ability to verify an asset or document via blockchain opens up a world of possibilities. Payments is probably the most well-known use of blockchain with bitcoin and other crypto assets being transferred quickly and securely. Our team has in-depth knowledge of this area, supporting a wide range of cryptoasset operations including wallet service providers, cryptoasset exchanges, cryptographic key custodians and key recovery service providers, creators, insurers, traders and investors.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are unique digital assets or items that exist on a blockchain and can’t be replicated. They are an increasingly popular way to buy and sell digital artwork and come with their own unique set of challenges and opportunities. We have significant experience in this area, advising some of Fortune Magazine’s NFTy 50 list (the 50 most influential people in the NFT market).

Advising leading businesses in the sector

We provide end-to-end support for businesses operating in the blockchain ecosystem. We understand and regularly deal with the tech disrupters (and the disrupted) to navigate a safe path through use and adoption of this technology.

Our clients are varied and from across all areas of this exciting sector including:

  • Crypto currency platforms, investors, exchanges, recovery agents
  • Digital asset/crypto asset providers
  • NFT marketplaces, creators, investors, traders, farmers and whales
  • Businesses exploring the future of Web3 and the Metaverse
  • Smart contracts auditors
  • Litigation SPVs (to overcome jurisdictional hurdles).
