Agriculture and Estates team launch Talk Farm podcast

HCR Law has launched a brand-new Agriculture and Estates podcast, Talk Farm.

Hosted by Partners Rory Hutchings and James Frankland, Talk Farm aims to help farmers, landowners and rural businesses navigate challenges and opportunities in the industry.

Commenting on the podcast, Rory Hutchings said:

“It’s an exciting challenge for us to produce something outside of the comfort zone of traditional legal speak. Talk Farm aims to provide genuinely useful commentary on the real issues facing agriculture and hear perspectives from different industry stakeholders.”

In increasingly turbulent times for agricultural professionals, the podcast sets out to identify the human impacts of political and legal developments, offering industry commentary and practical guidance that cuts through the noise.

The first episode is dedicated to dissecting the key points of the budget and how inheritance tax changes are set to impact farmers. Host James Frankland is joined by Lisa Millington (FALA), Partner in the Private Client team.

James and Lisa discuss cuts to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) and – ‘the sting in the tail’ – to Business Property Relief (BPR), lifetime gifting and the seven-year clock, and why you should pause before making any big decisions about your farm or business.
