HCR Law’s Midlands Corporate team has advised the shareholders of Bumble Hole Eggs Ltd on the company’s acquisition by Hardeman Egg Group.
Bumble Hole Eggs, a long-established egg products business based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, has been acquired by Hardeman Egg Group – a leading European egg producer and manufacturer of egg products headquartered in the Netherlands. The transaction was led by HCR Law’s Midlands Corporate team.
Founded in 1961 by David Hewston, Bumble Hole Foods has grown into one of the UK’s foremost egg processing businesses. Operating from a facility in Bromsgrove, the company supplies a wide range of egg products including liquid whole egg, boiled eggs, scrambled egg, egg mayonnaise, and separated whites and yolks. These are available in formats ranging from 1-kilo long-life cartons to bulk industrial containers.
The acquisition enables Hardeman Egg Group (HEG) to strengthen its presence in the UK market and offer an expanded portfolio of high-quality products. These include both Lion-certified British eggs and those sourced from HEG’s own EU-based farms. HEG’s vertically integrated supply chain ensures complete control, traceability, and consistency across all its markets.
The legal team advising on the deal was led by HCR Law’s Head of Midlands Corporate Team and Partner, Alison Scott, supported by Ashley Taylor, Ryan Upperton, and Hyein Ma. Real estate aspects were handled by Partner Michael Bennett, while employment advice was provided by Partner Omer Simjee and Solicitor Zara Shah.
Alison Scott commented: “We were delighted to work with Andrew Hewston and Sharon Jones on the sale of their family business. This transaction reflects the depth of our team’s experience and further strengthens our credentials in the food and drink sector.”
Ashley Taylor added: “This deal supports Hardeman Egg Group’s strategic expansion into the UK and helps to secure jobs in Worcestershire and the wider region. Bumble Hole Group has been a valued client of HCR Law for many years, and we are proud to have guided Andrew and Sharon through this important milestone.”
Andrew Hewston, former owner and Commercial Director of Bumble Hole Eggs, said: “After much consideration, we made the difficult decision to sell Bumble Hole Foods. This business has been at the heart of our family for decades. What began as a vision has become a reality thanks to the hard work of our team and the support of our customers and suppliers. With industry changes ahead – especially the shift to cage-free production, in which Hardeman is a leader – we believe this is the right step to ensure a sustainable and successful future for the company.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to Alison and the team at HCR Law for their professionalism and exceptional advice throughout the process. We are also grateful to Ballards LLP for their support on the financial side of the transaction.”
