HCR Law shortlisted for four awards in The Business Desk’s South West Rainmaker Awards

HCR Law’s Corporate team has been shortlisted for four awards in this year’s South West Rainmaker Awards.

We are delighted to be finalists in the National Legal Team category, as well as three other award categories.

In the Large Deal of the Year category, we are finalists for advising Ground Control, a UK and US-based specialist in satellite IoT devices and cloud-based monitoring platforms, on its sale to Toulouse-based CLS, a leading provider of satellite services dedicated to the study, protection and management of the planet’s resources. This deal was led by Rachael Reeves, Partner and Head of South West Corporate team and completed in October 2025.

In the Out of Region Deal of the Year category, we are finalists for advising The English Cheesecake Company on its acquisition by Mademoiselle Desserts in November 2025. The deal was led by HCR Law partner Derek Callanan.

In the Medium Deal of the Year category, we have two deals shortlisted. In April this year, HCR Law advised on the sale of Cheltenham-based Off-Piste Wines to global wine group Terold Invest SL. This deal was led by both Rachael Reeves and Tim Ward. The transaction delivered a successful exit for growth capital investor BGF, which invested in December 2019.

Our second entry in this category was advising the shareholders on the sale of Cheltenham-based global beauty business SLG Brands’ haircare brands, COLAB Dry Shampoo and Johnny’s Chop Shop, to US-based Thriving Brands LLC. This deal which completed in June this year, was led by Tim Ward.
