13th November 2023

Cross-team expertise from HCR has led to a successful management buy-out for new client, Macro.  Following its acquisition, supported by Mace Group, the facilities management arm of Mace has now become an independent business which will trade as Macro. Macro employs more than 700 people around the world and turns over around £130 million.

Corporate Partner Robert Rice led the HCR advisory team which also included Victoria Dingle (Partner, banking and finance), Nick Lewin (Solicitor, banking and finance), Nicolas Groffman (Partner, commercial), Hannah Clements (Solicitor, commercial) Jennifer Arkell (Trainee).  Harry Upshall a paralegal in the corporate team worked closely with Rob throughout.

The deal was funded through new a debt finance facility provided by IGF.

Robert said: “This deal represents a huge opportunity for the MBO team and we’re really looking forward to working with Macro going forwards.  I really do wish the team every success.”

Chris Bampton, Macro’s CFO said, “It was great to work with Rob, Vicky and the rest of the team at HCR on this deal.  Given there were so many moving parts and the pace we all had to work to, we needed a team that could advise quickly and clearly on the key points, whilst at the same time allowing us to get on with everything we needed to on our side.  I’d happily recommend HCR to others.”
