About me

Education plays such a key part in everyone’s life and working with schools to ensure their successful future is fascinating. I enjoy working on deals – helping a client towards a successful merger or acquisition is very satisfying. I also appreciate getting to know my clients well, so that I can offer them advice which really fits their commercial situation – I am always willing to listen and to be pragmatic.

Although most of my work is with school staff, governors and directors, that also includes charities, academies and the full range of educational institutions; I have worked in both finance and the public sector before, so I know some of the wider legal issues which they are facing.

Outside work, my young family absorbs most of my time, but I enjoy golf and cycling.

Quick resolution secures sporting grounds for school

Morgan West and James Morgan have received high praise from Bromsgrove School in a matter relating to the acquisition of an adjacent sporting facility. They acted on behalf of the school in the acquisition of the Ryland Centre, a neighbouring sports facility which would be able to provide the school with a sizeable running track and grounds for their pupils to continue to hold athletics meets as well as a gym and facilities for the local community. The school commented: “Thank you so much for all of your support with our transaction. Our Chair of the Building Committee and myself are so grateful for both your professionalism and for the personal commitments that you both made to support the School.” The matter required a quick resolution to ensure that the school was able to secure the facility promptly, as otherwise there was a risk they would lose their existing use of the site altogether. However thanks to the work of Morgan and James, as well as assistance from the wider team of Paul Watkins, Steve Thomas and Oliver Daniels the school was able to secure the site and the assets of the outgoing operator in a timely manner.
