HCR Hewitsons raises £12,907 for charity

8th March 2024

During the course of the last year our Cambridge office have raised an amazing £12,907.88 for our chosen local charity, Wintercomfort. Various events have been organised and staff members have also participated in a number of challenges in a bid to raise as much money as possible.

Taking part in the Big Sleepout in February 2023 gave the team of 10 staff members an insight into the daily challenges faced by the homeless. Our home-grown H€R-O-VISON singing contest which took place in July 2023 and involved participation from staff members in all of our 10 offices, was a huge success (and a lot of fun too!). In December 2023, a team of 19 staff members took on the challenge to climb the height of Ben Nevis at Cambridge Clip ‘n Climb and they smashed it in just under 1 hour 45 minutes, raising over £1,500. Our most recent event in January took place at St Paul’s Church where we hosted a sell-out HCR x Wintercomfort Quiz Night. Just under 100 people joined us on the night and we raised over £3,000.

We have been proud to support Cambridge charity Wintercomfort who provide year-round support for homeless and vulnerably housed people in Cambridge. They are at the heart of homeless support in Cambridge, working not only with rough sleepers but also those who are in hostel accommodation, who are sofa surfing, and those who are at risk of losing their home.

Inger Anson, Head of our Cambridge office, said “The Team in the Cambridge Office have worked incredibly hard to put on a fantastic range of events throughout the year and we are so grateful to all the businesses, clients, friends and family members who have supported us. We are very proud to have been able to raise such a large sum of money for a brilliant local charity.”

Sarah Halls, CEO of Wintercomfort, said “We are so grateful to the team at HCR Hewitsons for their dedication throughout 2023, exceeding their fundraising target by raising over £12,000 for Wintercomfort. By the end of this current financial year, we expect to have supported approximately 700 individuals, a startling increase of 50% in just two years. Charity of the Year partnerships are incredibly important to us in securing the necessary funding needed to meet this increase in demand. The money raised throughout 2023 has already provided such a boost to our welfare service for those experiencing homelessness in the city.”
