European collaboration: expanding our Spanish expertise
Our collaboration with Spanish firm Tribeca is founded on a longstanding relationship, having worked together successfully – particularly with tech sector businesses – and having supported clients with international M&A and employment matters over several years.
The collaboration gives Tribeca’s clients access to our full-service UK offering, and HCR’s clients access to Tribeca’s expertise and experience in Spain. Similarly, Tribeca now have a presence within our international HQ in London. The collaboration means we’re able to support more UK businesses wanting to expand or do business in Spain, and also private individuals buying property or investing.
Our recent work in Europe
We advised a UK distributor in the automotive sector on the termination of its business relationship with its Dutch supplier. We were able to give our client a seamless service, comprising both English and Dutch expertise thanks to our excellent relationships with local law experts.
We also advised a major Dutch salvage business on the effects of a potential breach of contract claim worth an estimated £400m relating to the decommissioning of oil platforms.
We assisted a UK bank with a guarantee from a Danish parent company and procuring the required legal opinion. In addition we have also assisted a British chemical company during a sale of part of its business to a Danish company where the sale was to be governed by Danish law.
Supporting cross-border trade
In conjunction with local law specialists, we helped our client, a UK-based world-leading supplier of bakery ingredients, to set up logistics and warehousing facilities for its Dutch subsidiary. We were able to get them tailored legal advice quickly and efficiently on a project which was critical to their business.
Our team have recently helped clients navigate Norwegian employment law and we have also engaged Finnish lawyers to advise on the purchase of the Helsinki-based subsidiary of a multinational clothing company.
