Six specialisms ranked for HCR in Chambers and Partners

HCR ranked in six specialisms in the latest Chambers and Partners legal directory across East Anglia. The practice areas covered included Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Corporate, IP, Litigation, Real Estate and Real Estate Litigation.

The Agriculture and Rural Affairs team, ranked in Band 2 are noted in the directory as being “sought after” and are recognised for “expertise on rural property sales and purchases, along with farm and estate advice.” Head of team Denise Wilkinson is ranked in Band 1, with one client saying “we get excellent customer care from Denise. Her great experience in agricultural […] work is second to none.”

In Corporate, ranked in Band 3, the team are noted as recognising “focus on the technology sector, acting for both mature and early-stage technology companies.” The team’s focus on “private equity work, with a specialism in MBOs and advising the management of companies” is also mentioned. Partner James Lawrence, ranked in Band 2, is mentioned as a notable practitioner.

Intellectual Property is also ranked in Band 2 in the directory. The team “represent national and international clients from a broad range of industries.” Bill Thatcher, a partner in the team, is mentioned as a Band 1 notable practitioner.

The litigation team are mentioned in the legal directory, known for their work on “contentious partnership issues” amongst many others. One client says “I have been impressed by the firm’s ability to deal with complex, sophisticated matters.” Partner Simon Biggin is ranked in Band 3 and noted for being “particularly well-versed in cases relating to the technology sector.”

Real Estate in the firm’s Cambridge office are said to have a “strong track record of advising on strategic land matters” and also advising on acquisition, lease and sale of commercial property.

Head of team James Simpson is ranked in Band 2, with clients calling him “pragmatic and commercially astute”.

One client said she has “an understanding of our problems and concerns while still being commercial in her opinions.”
